The Vacancy

Job Title:
Metal Fabricator (Plater) – Apprenticeship

Summary:
Join Grayton Ltd as an Apprentice Metal Fabricator (Plater), working with leading clients in the heavy engineering sector across chemical, oil and gas, cement, and steel industries. We have the opportunity available for the right individual to join a fast-paced, growing engineering business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working with trades and supervision to understand fabrication drawings.
• Cutting and shaping steel components.
• Assembling components to construction drawings.
• Working to strict Health and Safety Guidelines.

Training to be provided
The apprenticeship follows a 3.5-year programme, with the first year spent off the job at CATCH in Stallingborough. This would be Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4pm.
The remainder of the apprenticeship is then completed onsite with the employer.


Required Qualifications:
Applicants will need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at A*-C (9-4) Grades including in English and Mathematics based subjects or equivalent.
Needs to be at least 17 by the time they would come to us in their 2nd year. Ideally already have a driving license / working towards driving as will need own transport to get to sites as required.

Benefits:
Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a higher-level apprenticeship or full-time employment for the right candidate.

You will have developed a variety of interchangeable skills and have an in depth understanding of manufacturing and processes.


Salary:
Government apprenticeship minimum wage rate for your age.

Location:
Starting in Barton workshop (DN18), with progression to client sites across the UK.
