The Vacancy
About the Employer
Glanford Power Station is a renewable energy generator specialising in converting Meat and Bone Meal (MBM) into electricity, operated, and maintained by our 27 strong in-house team. We are an integral part of the local economy generating jobs and investment through the local supply chain.
We were originally commissioned in 1993 to burn poultry litter, then re-engineered and refurbished in 2000 to generate electricity from MBM.
We have >90% availability and provide an invaluable service to the local rendering industry by way of a secure year-round outlet for the disposal and recovery of biomass. Our combustion ash is sold as fertiliser to the British agricultural industry making this a truly sustainable business model.
We have robust environmental system in place with a continued focus on improving our green credentials and are ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certified. Our output reduces CO2 emissions by some 34,000 tonnes each year by displacing the equivalent amount of generation from gas fired plants. This equates to taking more than 13,000 cars off the UK's roads.
