Positions Available
2 x Instrumentation - 3 year programme
1 x Mechanical - 3 year programme
2 x Process Operator - 3 year programme
1 x Pipe Welder - 4 year programme

Our Instrumentation Technicians deal with crucial electronic and mechanical instruments that are used to monitor and control the plants – from the valves that control the flow of acetic acid, to the devices that monitor the internal pressure of reactors and continuous analysers that measure the composition of key process streams. They utilise their skills and expertise to complete plant preparations, maintenance activities, and deal with emergent activities that, if not addressed, could escalate into issues that would compromise any of our plants’ performance.

Working alongside our highly skilled Mechanical Technicians you will become fully competent in a full range of investigation/troubleshooting, planned repair scopes, preventative and predictive maintenance, and the installation of new equipment. You will work on pumps, compressors, valves, heaters, turbo machinery, boilers, heat exchangers and many other pieces of industrial mechanical equipment which are all vital in operating our complex plant.
 

Working as part of a shift team, Process Operators utilise their process skills and expertise to monitor and control pressures, temperatures and flow rates to achieve optimum production.  Apprentices will gain invaluable skills required to start up, operate, monitor and shut down the range of different operational equipment we have on site.

They are often working to challenging deadlines, following complex procedures and working instructions, collaborating with others to problem solve to ensure safe reliable operations continue. 

As a Pipe Welding Apprentice you’ll be working alongside our highly skilled Technicians you will become fully competent in a full range of investigation/troubleshooting, planned repair scopes, preventative and predictive maintenance, and the installation of new equipment. You will learn the required techniques to make high strength joints using various welding processes to join the different metals used throughout our complex, top tier COMAH plant in line with ASME IX and BSEN welding standards.

Working Week
Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm, at CATCH for year 1.
Outside of catch the working week is:
Monday to Friday days with occasional overtime and weekend working

Desired Qualifications
Applicants will need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at A*-C (9-4) Grades including in English and Mathematics based subjects or equivalent.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a higher-level apprenticeship or full-time employment for the right candidate.

You will have developed a variety of interchangeable skills and have an in depth understanding of manufacturing and processes.

You must have a strong desire to work hard to achieve success and we expect you to be passionate about your future career and be happy to continue learning. Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential as is the confidence to liaise with colleagues across the site
