About the Employer

Centrica Storage Ltd are the UKs biggest natural gas storage facility, compromising of the Easington Onshore Gas Terminal, the 47/3B offshore platform and Woodlands House support base in Hessle, East Yorkshire. The business utilises the Rough sandstone reservoir 2.7km below the seabed, where natural gas is injected or withdrawn depending on UK demand. From there the gas is piped to the Terminal where it is processed for use in the National Transmission System which distributes the gas around the country to homes, industry and energy producers. The Terminal is capable of processing 85 million normal standard cubic metres of gas every day and covers 46 acres, with over 8000 valves, 2000 transmitters and many kilometres of piping. Our operation is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Easington Terminal also produces third-party gas from the Tolmount field as part of the Humber Gathering System, with capacity to add further developing fields in the future

Positions Available
Process Operators - 3 year programme
Electrical & Instrumentation - 3 year programme
Mechanical - 3 year programme

Working Week
Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm, at CATCH for year 1.
Outside of CATCH - Monday to Friday at Easington Terminal, weekends potentially required infrequently.

Desired Qualifications
Applicants will need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at A*-C (9-4) Grades including in English and Mathematics based subjects or equivalent. 

Desired Skills

  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Understanding and awareness of the importance of Health and Safety for both self and colleagues, and willingness to learn about our safety culture.
  • You must have the logical ability to solve problems in a timely manner, and the ability to stay calm in difficult situations.
  • Good communication skills both written & oral.
  • IT literate with willingness to learn new applications.
  • Willing to learn new skills, and practically minded.

Employer Location:
Easington Terminal site, Dimlington Road, Easington, HU12 0SX. Located on the Yorkshire Coast, just North of Easington village.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a higher-level apprenticeship or full-time employment for the right candidate.

You will have developed a variety of interchangeable skills and have an in depth understanding of manufacturing and processes.
